Checkout Validation
Prevent invalid checkouts by validating addresses, detecting PO Boxes, or enforcing custom field requirements in real-time.
Configuration Steps
Step 1: Create Customization
- Open the SmartFlow Checkout app in your Shopify Admin.
- Click on the Checkout Validation tab.
Step 2: Configure Basic Details
- Enter a clear Rule Name to identify your validation rule (for internal use only).
- Set the Status to Active or Draft depending on when you want it to apply.
- Optionally, use the calendar icon to schedule a Start and End Date/Time for automatic activation and expiry.
Step 3: Add and Configure Conditions
- Click + Add condition to create a rule that defines when validation should trigger.
- Select your preferred Condition Type from the dropdown.
- Configure the selected condition by entering or selecting the required values based on your criteria.
- Enter the Error Message that should display to the customer when this condition is met.
- Choose where this error message should appear during checkout by clicking Select a Position and picking your preferred display area.
- You can add multiple conditions to handle different validation rules within a single setup.
Step 4: Define Validation Behavior
- Each condition represents a checkout scenario that will be validated in real-time.
- When the condition is met, the configured error message will appear in the selected position.
- Make sure your conditions are precise to avoid showing unnecessary or conflicting messages to customers.
Step 5: Review & Save
- Double-check your Rule Name, Conditions, Error Messages, and Display Positions.
- Ensure the rule is set to Active if you want it to take effect immediately.
- Click Save to apply your validation rule.
Step 6: Test Your Validation
- Go to your checkout and perform a test that meets the condition you configured.
- Verify that the error message appears in the correct location and with the intended text.
- Adjust conditions or message placement as needed for the best user experience.
Step 7: Troubleshooting
- Ensure the rule is Active and within its scheduled time range.
- Check that your conditions and error messages are correctly configured.
- Make sure you have selected a valid Display Position for the message to appear during checkout.
- After saving, refresh your checkout page before testing to load the latest validation logic.
